Patka
- Sikhs frequently wear their hair in a bun on top of their heads to keep it out of the way of the cloth. A patka is a type of turban worn by children or by people who participate in strenuous sports. Sikhs frequently wear one under a conventional turban to keep it in place. It’s a much smaller cloth than just a full turban.
- Pull your hair to the top of your head, as if you’re going to make a ponytail. Begin pulling your hair altogether to form a thick rope.
- Start winding the hair rope around itself. Make a knot near the front of your head on the top of your head. Continue to wrap it around itself. You can pull a section of it through itself to produce a slip knot if it’s long enough. If this isn’t possible, wrap the end around the knot. If it won’t stay, secure it with a flexible clip.
- Begin by using a patka cloth. Holding a portion in each hand, place it over your brow. Tie the corners of your head from the front to the rear.
- From the back, pull the corner strings up. Cross one over and over your head’s knot, holding it under your chin for now. Cross the other one in the other direction.
- Wrap the edges of the knot all-around knot’s front. Tie them in a knot at the back of your head.
Sikh Turban
- Take one amongst your turban’s corners and place it in your mouth. You may wrap the turban with both hands-frees if you hold one edge in your mouth.
- Wrap the turban across your back and then up over your hair knot. Pull it back to the front, around the knot. On one side, let it go down around the front of your head.
- Rewind it around your head. As you loop around, move higher on the opposite side of your head. On either side, bring it down lower.
- Continue to wrap it around your head. As you go, layer it. As you wrap your hair around your head, it will produce a stair-step look.
- Finish by tucking the end in. Tuck the end of the turban cloth into the turban’s top folds when you get to the end. To keep it in place, make sure you pull it tight.
- Tuck the end of your tongue inside your mouth. Pull the end around your back and tuck it under the fabric’s rear folds.
