During his first Udasi (spiritual journey), Guru Nanak Dev Ji reached Karnal. The locals informed Guru Ji about a mystic named Sheikh Safar, who was believed to possess miraculous powers and held significant influence in the region. Out of fear, people obeyed him, and even the local ruler supported him.
When the people were complaining to Guru Ji about the fakir, one of Sheikh Safar’s disciples, Mubarak Ali Shah, overheard the conversation and reported it to his master. Determined to display his supernatural abilities and impress Guru Ji, Sheikh Safar sat on a wall and made it levitate, heading towards Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
However, before reaching Karnal, the wall stopped moving in the village of Budha Khera. Despite his efforts, Sheikh Safar could not make the wall proceed further. When he attempted to descend, he found himself stuck. Realizing his mistake, he humbled himself and walked barefoot to Guru Nanak Dev Ji, falling at his feet and seeking forgiveness. Guru Ji, blessing him with wisdom, guided him toward the path of truth and humility.
