Under a dim cool tree, Bhai Mardana and Guru Nanak began read aloud kirtan (sacred hymns) and their devotees assembled around. This irritated Wali Qandhari but he was pretty much helpless.

According to legend, Bhai Mardana was sent 3 times to Wali Qandhari so that he will provided him with few H2o to snuff out his thirst. In spite of all this, Mardana still pretty polite dampen down to his demand.

The Wali ironically reflected: Why don’t you ask the Master whom you served? Mardana went back to the Guru in the sorrowful state and said “Oh Almighty ! I preferred death to thirst but would not approached Wali the egoist again. The Guru replied Oh Bhai Mardana ! Repeat the Almighty, the Name of God; and drinking the H2o to your heart’s happier.

The Guru put aside a huger stone lying closeby and a purified fountain of H2o sprang up and started to flow endlessly. Bhai Mardana put out his felt grateful and thirst to the Guru. On the other side, at about the similar time, the Wali Qandhari fountain dry up.

Panja Sahib

Like all folklore and legends, the tale of Panja Sahib sounded like a mixture of hope, facts fiction- fiction to the disbeliever, that is. There are contrast of detail among various versions of the tale that one reads or hears on the net. However, a well defined usual thread running through all of them. Other than the Sikh Granthi of the shrine or caretaker I also talked to few locals of Hasan Abdal about the tale of Panja Sahib. Every one given me a similar, if not exactly the similar, account; and they all seemed to faith it too. Here is the tale in its necessary details.

Sometime between the year 1511 and 1521 Guru Nanak is said to having travelled to the Arab lands visiting, among another places, Baghdad and Mecca. Some suggested that he even perform the hajj but there is no undeniable evidence of that. On the pathway back from its stopover abroad Guru Nanak passed through after cross up the Indus, Peshawar and Kabul and then, coming to rest at the tiny hamlet at the a steep hill base, Margallas short, where Hasan Abdal is situated today.

While visiting the Panja Sahib holy place and hear the tales one could not support notice the striking similarities among few of the traditions of Muslims and Sikhs. The tale of the Guru Nanak divining water reminded one of the tale of Hazrat Hajra hopelessly look out for H2o for her lid in the Arabian Desert and the kid kick up water admirably from the sand. And, Sikhs are as astonished at the ampleness and permanently of freshened H2o effusively forth at the holy place in Hasan Abdal as Muslims are with the for ever and ever and fortune of H2o at Zamzam. Also the Sikhs treated the H2o at Panja Sahib as admiringly as Muslims treated the H2o from Zamzam.
