The Transformation of Sultan Hamid: From arrogance to truth

In the land of Kafira, there ruled a proud and fanatical king named Sultan Hamid. Known for his rigid beliefs and disdain for spiritual seekers, he held no regard for fakirs or pirs. His heart was closed to wisdom, his mind clouded by arrogance.

Land of Kafira

When Guru Nanak Dev Ji arrived in Kafira on his return from Medina, he encountered Sultan Hamid. The two engaged in a profound dialogue, during which Guru Ji revealed a divine truth: “God does not sit hidden in the distant skies, separate from His creation. He resides within every particle of nature, for He is the Creator of all. Merely reciting the Sharia is not enough—one must live by its principles. True devotion lies in walking the path of righteousness, for an honest life is equal to a thousand prostrations.”

Guru Ji, perceiving the king’s rigid and oppressive mindset, counseled him with compassion: “Abandon arrogance, bigotry, greed, and lust. Embrace humility, for only then will you find the divine.”

To everyone’s astonishment, Sultan Hamid—once a staunch fanatic—was deeply moved by Guru Ji’s words. The veil of pride lifted from his heart, and genuine devotion awakened within him. Influenced by Guru Nanak’s teachings, he turned away from tyranny and began walking the path of truth.

This encounter serves as a timeless lesson: No heart is too hardened for transformation when touched by wisdom and humility.
