How much power is there in the name of God?

In Punjab, there lived a devout Sikh named Bhai Gurmukh Singh, who firmly believed in the immense power of God’s name. Every morning, before sunrise, he would wake up to chant the name of God, dedicating his life to selfless service. Whether it was feeding the hungry or sheltering the homeless, Bhai Gurmukh Singh Ji’s life was a testament to his faith and devotion. However, some skeptical villagers questioned his beliefs, unable to comprehend how a simple name could hold such power.

One day, Lala, a well-educated and philosophical man from the village, approached Bhai Gurmukh Singh Ji. He said, “I’ve heard you believe there’s great power in God’s name, but without scientific proof, I cannot accept it. You’re an educated person—how can you believe in something so abstract?” Bhai Gurmukh Singh Ji smiled and replied, “Lala Ji, the power of Waheguru’s name cannot be understood through books or logic. It must be experienced. The name of God is directly connected to the Divine, and its power is beyond human understanding.”

Lala challenged him, saying, “If you claim there’s power in God’s name, prove it to me. I need evidence to believe.” Bhai Gurmukh Singh Ji humbly responded, “Lala Ji, I cannot show you miracles or tangible proof. But if you chant God’s name with a sincere heart, you will experience its power yourself.”

Lala accepted the challenge and promised to chant God’s name for three days. For the first two days, he felt nothing. But on the third day, as he sat in meditation, a profound sense of peace washed over him. His restless mind, always preoccupied with logic and science, grew calm. His heart felt lighter, and his worries seemed to vanish. On the fourth day, Lala experienced something extraordinary—a radiant light surrounded him, and he felt the presence of God within. Overwhelmed, tears streamed down his face, and he fell at Bhai Gurmukh Singh Ji’s feet, saying, “Forgive me, Bhai Sahib. I was arrogant and blind. I doubted the power of God’s name, but now I have truly experienced it. The peace in my heart is indescribable.”

Bhai Gurmukh Singh Ji comforted him, saying, “Lala Ji, the power of God’s name is not just about miracles or visions. It gives us strength to face life’s challenges and connects us with the Divine. When we worship God with a true heart, we are never alone.”

This story teaches us that the name of God holds immense power—a power that brings peace, strength, and divine connection. It reminds us to chant God’s name with sincerity and faith, for it is our greatest support in life.
